You know, working as an aerial theatre company, a lot of our shows are done with heavy incorporation of the bungee- and speaking as someone who has personally been around for the whole time Wendy and Jamie have been creating aerial magic, you get somewhat used to seeing the performers in the air.
We all know the technique is highly challenging, and there is a very specific skill set attributed to each of our aerialists- but today I had a really really nice change- I got to watch our girls dance ON THE FLOOR!

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I forget how awesome our performers are at ground-based dance. We’ve had company class this morning- the first time we’ve opened the company training regime to any drop-in performers that want to come along and work on their professional contemporary skills which underpin our bungee-assisted dance technique. Just us, and the floor, ahh good old-fashioned fun.
From my office in The Higher Space, I have a great vantage point to the main space, and I’ve been hard pressed to concentrate on working while the tunes have been pumping out since 10 this morning- so I just gave up, and started watching, teehee! The class choreography, led by our Venue Manager Robert Guy, is really gorgeous, and looks a whole lot of fun- everyone seems like they’re really being pushed to the limit, but there’s still smiles all round.
If you want to come along and join in with our Company class, they will be running according to the schedule you can view at our website, under our diary section. You’ll also find dates scheduled on there for bungee-assisted dance and vertical wall workshops if you’d rather come and have a bounce around or run up a wall instead- each to their own!
The quarterly Wired newsletter will be making the rounds this week- fingers crossed- so you’ll be hearing about all the exciting stuff we have lined up for the Higher Space, pff it’s not all just about the ATWT tour ya know! There’s loads of exciting offers for dancers just starting out, to the pro’s that want to skill up, and even for complete beginners with no experience at all- everyone gets to fly!
There’s also something else, but I’m not telling you what it is yet, mmwahaha, suffice to say it’s pretty cool, and I want one…oh no, nearly gave it away then, eep! That’s enough from me, I’m going before I say too much!

| And plie, and plie, and stretch, and nap! |
Speak to you tomorrow- I’m giving a shout out to remind everyone the Greenwich and Docklands International Festival leg of the tour is this Saturday- I might even find some archive pics from last year- no promises though, it’s busy busy busy here! As always, I promise I’ll do my best for you :D
Bye y’all!
