Back from Oz!

Happy Friday everyone, hope you’re all in a relaxed and happy mood ready for the weekend!  This week I’m doing a bit of a round up of the company’s escapades in Australia- with the team now back on this side of the world, I’ve been hearing loads about the fun they’ve had, and of course about how amazing the festival was!  Our Artistic Director Wendy sent through little bits and pieces as they were over there…

“Well it has started - well and truly!  We have been inducted on site, got our high vis jackets and closed toe shoes, and we are all set- here we go!!!!!!!
Jamie looks well and truly in control, walking around focused but lighthearted, keeping a check on things. We have a great team that allows him to do that. So proud of everyone right now!

Dani and Hannah are on water and food duties keeping our climbers healthy and working at the their best, meanwhile the others are popping down to site to do other really important things like hanging costumes, organising our changing rooms and generally just getting a handle of the next two days ahead of us.
Loving it, pinching myself hourly!!!!

The artistic meeting with Nigel went really well, with him coming along to the show and further meeting on the 9th to really get to grips with how the show will develop further, and it will be lovely to have our director see the show with his own eyes again after our full tour last year to let it settle into our bones!!!

Oz is fab!  We are well and truly settling in here and loving the people, the sights and the run up to the festival.  Have to say having Norman Jay working his DJ magic in an epic 8 hour set on the same day as we are performing is a dream come true and then of course there is Manu Chao!!!
I have just left the festival site and have met the festival staff- I have to say this festival is so well organised that it scares me!  As I left, I watched Jamie striding across the road while talking with Andy our site manager and Jim our production manager working out the exact positions of ballast and our fabulous wall.  Everything’s all under control, it’s great feeling so calm about that side of things.
Had a lovely chat with Nigel this morning as he was making his way into work on the final preparations of the ‘How to tame your Dragon’ Arena show.  He is coming along to our company meal this evening to wish us well and to allow me, Kully and him to work out any thoughts on developing the show to make it even better.  Really looking forward to that, although need some serious thought into where we will be housing 23 of us for dinner!!!”

I’ve been getting some great images from the team, and there’s so many it seems a shame not to get them out for everyone to see- I’ll be making a big push on our Flickr account to get them all up, along with some others brilliant pics that we’ve got sitting in our archive, so do keep an eye out!  You can find the link to our Flickr, and of course all our other social media sites on our website, or just click here to travel straight there!

More exciting news on the way next week, so keep your eyes peeled!  Till then, have a great weekend, and speak soon!
