As the World Tipped kicks it up a notch!

Only 2 weeks left of rehearsals before Wired hit the road for the premiere of As the World Tipped, and we're setting our sights high...literally!

The Wired wall hovers more than 13m overhead
Today marks the first time connecting the wall, a massive 10x10m metal construction, to a crane and hoisting it up, up and into the air.  This run through is going to be so important for both the performance and technical teams, as it's their first stab at attacking the performance apparatus without the floor- at least in part- supporting it.  Now is the time that some tough choices and changes may have to be made, depending on how well the design holds up to the many variables it's now subjected to.

The team, just hanging around
The concept for the wall itself was that of Jamie and Wendy Ogilvie- the Technical and Artistic Directors of Wired respectively.  Designed over the course of several years, it was only through the realisation of this project that Wired finally had the opportunity to build what had previously only been their pipe dream.

Since last week there's been much going on over at the Mighty, Bootle- and never wanting to leave you out of the loop, I've had my spy- Connor Quill, taking loads of photos so you can get an idea of what's happening. There's been much progress since last week, and the rehearsals being held at night are great, not only for helping the team better see the projection against the wall- but for getting some cracking dramatic shots!

Silhouettes get all photogenic

The rehearsals haven't all been plain sailing- what ever is?- but it's been a steep learning curve (will the puns never end?) but everyone understood that a project of this magnitude tends to swallow you up- and as time goes on, the anticipation is thick in the air.

This is your lot for the week now I'm afraid, as tomorrow is going to be hardcore footage capture.  I've been filming, along with the wonderful Connor Quill, all the goings on at The Mighty, and The Higher Space, and shortly after the premiere at the Norwich and Norfolk festival, will be uploading a Documentary short on our Youtube channel.  What better to get you in the mood for the show itself than seeing the road to it's release?  It will also talk about the environmental themes of the show, and how on earth the whole project came about- which I'm pretty sure was part hard work, part divine intervention.  It should be a riveting watch, so keep your eyes peeled for a tweet upon it's release.  If you haven't started following us on Twitter yet, then do check us out- the link to our feed can be found on our website at www.wiredaerialtheatre.com

Lastly, the As the World Tipped website should be up and running in the next couple of weeks.  I'll of course give you a heads up when it goes live, but for now you can access the holding page at www.astheworldtipped.com and nail-bite as we countdown to the premiere.

Thats all for now!  I'll leave you with my favourite pic from this week of rehearsals, which I think beautifully illustrates the relationship between the Wired family.

Have a good week y'all,
Love Mand
