Afternoon everyone! As promised, I've been taking a time out with Robert Guy this morning, the new Manager for The Higher Space- otherwise known as Wired HQ.
He's got some mighty big plans, and it's all looking very exciting for us and the whole dance community!
So everyone- meet Rob...

So everyone- meet Rob...
So, what’s your job title:
In the show (As the World Tipped) I’m Head Aerialist, in terms of Wired I am The Higher Space Manager overseeing the running of the company studio and everything that comes along with that.
And what does that mean you do exactly?:
[Laughs] That’s a really good question! For THS I’ll be programming courses and classes, getting other artists using the space, promotion within the dance world- as most people still think the company is circus based, but that’s not the case. In the main, bringing the space and its potential to the forefront of the dance world.
How long have you been working with Wired, and what else did you do before?:
Wow, well, I started in 2008. I fell into Wired quite literally, a friend of mine auditioned for the company, he was on the illustrious dream team list they made. They contacted him because they were down a performer in Argentina, but he wasn’t available, so they asked him if he knew anyone that could fill in at such short notice- he gave them my name. We spoke on the phone, and they flew me out to Argentina. I met Wendy and Jamie for the first time over there. They took a leap of faith with me, I think mainly because Wendy and I had very similar backgrounds, which was cool and a bit spooky.
What else, what else, umm, I have been teaching for several companies, running dance repertoire workshops for Richard Alston Dance Company, then for Retina where I lived in Belgium for a year- I was working with Wired then too, very busy boy! I also worked with Dance United which works with those who are marginalized in society and whose potential is often unrecognized. I was also creating and performing work in collaboration with Dani B Larsen [another Wired twirly].
What are your plans for the Higher Space?:
Big question, early days. First I’m trying to find my feet in Liverpool- I’m moving up from London and have to start networking. I have to get us on the map, we’re an untapped resource, artists don’t know what they’re missing out on- prime studio space for one! We could be used so much more to nurture artist in Liverpool and surrounding areas. We’re looking to run termly courses in aerial skills and contemporary dance, and professional company class among other plans. Within our company there’s a wealth of knowledge both between the aerial and dance world, we’re one of the leading aerial companies in the country that people should be chomping at the bit for.
If I wanted to find out more about what’s going on at THS and how to get involved, where do I go?:
The wired website will have all the info on there in due course, also if you contact the admin team we’ll forward you an info pack on THS and all the stuff that will be going on here- if anyone has got any questions then they shouldn’t hesitate to contact us directly, we’re all very nice here [laughs].
And finally...is it true that you bare a striking resemblance to Justin Bieber’s Dad?:
[Laughs hard] Oh god, Yes it is, thanks for that.
Can I post the link to that picture?
[still laughing] Oh dear!

A big thanks to Rob for taking the time to chat with me! I know I'm not the only one who can't wait to see what suprises he has in store for us over the coming months.
You can read more on Rob on the Wired staff page at www.wiredaerialtheatre.com and of course see plenty of photos of him in action at www.astheworldtipped.com
Ok, that's me done- I'll be seeing you next week- hopefully with a sneak peak at the new Wired documentary...remember, you heard it here first!
