Hi everyone! Here’s a quick update for you, as I know you’ll all want to know how things are moving along.
The majority of us didn't arrive at the University of East Anglia (where we are staying) until about 10pm on Wednesday night after spending over 5hours in the car- busy busy day. Thursday was a very exciting (and extremely tiring) day for everyone. We got to see the stage go 8 metres up into the air with performers on it. This was made even more exciting by the vast park we were surrounded by- which I might mention, is a vast park which, come Saturday night, will be filed with hundreds of audience members!
The weather as been amazing for us and the sun has been warming us up through the day - burning some of the more manly climbers who refuse to wear sun cream – naming no names…Matt! Tensions have been running high amongst the Climbers, who must be exhausted at working 16 hour days, but we all felt a great sense of achievement at the end of the night when everything finally ran smoothly. The hard work is all paying off.
It didn't get dark until about 9.30pm and that's when the performers have to be ready to give it their all with the projection for a few hours before they are sent off to bed. The performers interactions with the projections are now so precise and delicate that every moment looks effortless, a creation of nature.
"Whenever I am at a festival, because I'm short, I either have to get on Jamie's shoulders to see, or put up with looking at peoples backs and boobs the whole time. This (A.T.W.T.) is something for all the short people to be able to enjoy without having to be on anybody's shoulders or having a boob in the face. Little people with big dreams, like me"
I’d like to thank Connor for taking the time to update us, I know the whole team are racing against the clock down there, and I want to take this opportunity to wish them all the best of luck for the show on Saturday- we’re all thinking of you, go knock their socks off!!!
I’ll be back next week with all the news from the after-party. Have a great week everyone!
As the World Tipped- The World Premiere begins at 10.15pm on Saturday 21st May at Eaton Park, Norwich.
